Proceeds from this year’s walk will benefit several patients including Kearsten Higgins family of Clinton, Melissa Rosa of Kenilworth, and the Cherneski family of Belvidere.  General donations will be used to fund the organizations “Pay their Way” co-payment assistance program which has been able to pay 465 co-payments since it began in July 2007 at Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center.

Initially founded to as a way to assist a coworker of founder Kathy Bailey Koltowski, the organization has grown and expanded its outreach assisting about 10 families over the last 5 years.  Along with direct patient assistance, the organization has also made donations to Somerset Medical Centers Nardoni Pavilion, and The Wellness Community of Bedminster.

The organization works directly with the family and friends of each patient to put together fund raising events that are meaningful to them.  The donations collected are dispersed to patients in need on a monthly basis via either check or prepaid debit cards after discussing the gap caused by increased medical expenses.

Friends of Suzanne was founded in October 2005. Its primary focus and mission is to raise money to help cancer patients and their families maintain the same quality of life they knew prior to their diagnosis.

This year, along with the walk, there will be a craft fair, Zumba session and live entertainment by Lead Singer Syndrome, Ashley Lennon Thomas, Brian Colburn, and Sean Faust; who are all donating their music to help raise funds.   A full schedule is available on the organization’s website: www.friendsofsuzanne.com.

Come out and show your support to those in the community living with cancer, and share a day of fun in the park!   There will be hourly give-a-ways donated by area businesses, but you must be present to win!   For additional information email: info@friendsofsuzanne.com or contact a board member at 1-908-432-4157.
