At 4:23 p.m. on April 13, officers responded to the East Linden Avenue retailer after receiving a report of the alleged shoplifting incident. Loss prevention personnel told police that the women entered the store and acted suspiciously. They allegedly scooped up blouses, fragrances and a brown handbag, then met in a dressing room where they allegedly stuffed the merchandise into their purses, according to police.

When loss prevention encountered the women in the parking lot, they hurriedly left the store in a 2005 Chevy Equinox, authorities said. Linden police, with the aid of officers from Elizabeth, stopped the vehicle and made the arrests. According to police, the merchandise was recovered from the suspects.

The three women were released on summonses and are due in county court on April 21, authorities said.
