Linden Teen Wins President’s Volunteer Service Award

LINDEN –Lindsay Chaillet of Linden has been honored for her exemplary volunteer service with a President’s Volunteer Service Award.

The award, which recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities and their country, was presented by the Prudential Spirit of Community awards program on behalf of President Barack Obama.

Chaillet participated in the Spirit of Community program this year as a representative of Union Catholic High School in Scotch Plains where she is a student. She earned her award through her dedicated service to the Union Catholic Student Movement Against Cancer (SMAC) group, Peer Ministry, and Students Taking Action Now: Darfur (STAND).

As a member of her parish, St. John the Apostle in Clark, Chaillet also volunteers monthly at the St. Joseph’s soup kitchen in Elizabeth. Upon graduation from Union Catholic, Chaillet plans to attend Salisbury University and major in psychology.
