Leagues Sponsor Talk On First Ladies

NEW PROVIDENCE—“View from the White House: The First Ladies from 1920-2010” will be the subject of a talk sponsored by the Leagues of Women Voters of Union County at the New Providence Memorial Library, 377 Elkwood Avenue, at 7:30 p.m. April 19.

The speaker will be Dr. Myra Gutin, professor of communication at Rider University, Lawrenceville.


A teacher in the business and professional speech and interpersonal communications tracks at Rider, Gutin is the author of “The President’s Partner: The First Lady in the Twentieth Century,” and “Barbara Bush: First Lady of Literacy.” Her research work has included political communications and women in politics.

Gutin’s talk has been arranged by the League of Women Voters of Berkeley Heights-New Providence-Summit in cooperation with three other Leagues in Union County: Hillside, Union Area and Plainfield. It is free and open to the public.
