CRANFORD – Union County College will hold an adjunct faculty job fair on Saturday, May 1, from 1 to 4 p.m. The fair will be held in the Victor M. Richel Student Commons on the college’s Cranford campus located at 1033 Springfield Avenue.
Prospective adjunct instructors will be able to talk with department chairs about openings at the College’s four campuses, located in Cranford, Elizabeth, Plainfield, and Scotch Plains. Most positions require a master’s degree and some disciplines also call for other certifications. In some fields, relevant experience may be substituted for a master’s degree.
All attendees should bring several resumes and a copy of an unofficial transcript to the job fair for review. However, upon hiring an official copy of one’s transcript will need to be provided to the Department of Human Resources.
The college is seeking instructors in all disciplines of its credit programs, including art, business, criminal justice, health sciences, English, science, computer graphics, liberal arts, mathematics, modern languages, engineering, and English as a Second Language. However, instructors are most needed in biology, modern languages, mathematics, developmental English and math, licensed practical nursing, and automotive technology.
Classes are offered during the day, evenings, weekends, and during summer and winter sessions.
Instructors are also needed for all areas of its non-credit courses, the Division of Economic Development and Continuing Education which offers more than 40 occupational certificate programs, personal enrichment courses (in arts, languages, and other areas), adult basic education, GED and citizenship test preparation, computer training, and English as a Second Language courses. These courses serve adults (including seniors) and youth.
The division also operates the New Pathways to Teaching in New Jersey alternative route to teaching program. The division is seeking experienced professionals in their fields who are interested in teaching these kinds of courses. In particular, the division is looking for instructors for a new Green Workforce Service (green jobs program) to be launched this summer.
The college offers competitive compensation and professional development opportunities for adjunct instructors. For more information on UCC and the programs offered at the college, visit the www.ucc.edu.
