Plainsboro Man Charged With Luring Young Girls To His Apartment

PLAINSBORO — A Plainsboro man has been arrested on charges of luring two girls, ages 6 and 4, to his apartment, Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Plainsboro Police Chief Richard Furda announced today.

David Rothermel, 48, was arrested at his of Hunters Glen Drive home on April 1  and was charged with two counts of luring the girls on March 28, 2010, according to authorities. The girls were not physically injured, authorities said.


An investigation by by Detective Russell Finkelstein of the Plainsboro Police Department and Investigator Sue Kowalski of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined that Rothermel approached the girls while they were playing in a yard in his apartment complex and invited them back to his home, authorities said.

The investigation began after the parents of the 6-year-old girl contacted police.

Rothermel remains in custody at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick in lieu of $100,000 bail, authorities said. He must post the full amount before he can be released.
