NJ Unemployment Claims Rose In The Last Week Of March

STATE — New Jersey saw a jump in initial unemployment claims for the week ending March 27, according to information from the federal Department of Labor.

New Jersey saw intial claims increase by 1,715 from the previous week. Layoffs in the construction, trade, service, transportation, warehousing and manufacturing industries were blamed.


Texas (3,640), Oregon (2,412) and California (1,275) also had significant increases.

The U.S. unemployment rate was 9.7% in March; the New Jersey rate was 9.8% in February, the most recent data available.
