Linden AARP Collects Support For Haiti

LINDEN—Linden AARP Chapter #1849 held a Haiti Relief Fund Drive during their monthly meeting at the Linden Presbyterian Church, 1506 Orchard Terrace.

Chapter President Michael Pileggi has asked all members to help the people of Haiti who still have many long-term needs while rebuilding their earthquake-damaged country. The response and donations were outstanding, according to Linden AARP officials.

The Linden Chapter of AARP has been helping those in need for many years. Members bring non- perishable foods to all of the monthly meetings to be given to local food banks. Blankets, sheets, infants outfits and monetary donations have been given to the Raphael House, in Elizabeth, for homeless pregnant women and their babies. The knitting group has been making blankets and hats for newborn babies and distributing them to area hospitals.

The chapter meets every fourth Friday at 1 p.m. at the Linden Presbyterian Church, 1506 Orchard Terrace in Linden. Anyone wishing to join may do so at any of any meeting.
