Diaz Establishes Historic Preservation Commission In Perth Amboy

PERTH AMBOY—Mayor Wilda Diaz has established the first Historic Preservation Commission in the City of Perth Amboy.

“The ordinance establishing this commission has been on the books since 1993 and one of my priorities as Mayor is to protect and preserve our historic past,” she said. “The creation of this commission will give us the proper tools to not only preserve our history, but to assist the other boards and commissions in the city to move forward with development and redevelopment without destroying our national treasures.”

The members of the commission are William Pavlovsky, Jeff Huber, Russell O’Reilly, Vilma Novak, Reinaldo Aviles, Erika Moreno, Joanne Dugas and Filomena Gianfrancesco.

“All of these members have shown a keen interest not only as civic activists, but as people who are interested in the preservation of our great history.  The people of the City of Perth Amboy will be well served with these dedicated members,” said Diaz.
