EDISON—The need for nonprofit organizations to raise funds is greater than ever, and a new program at Middlesex County College will give students the skills to enter this field, and give those in the profession new strategies and techniques.
The program, offered by the college’s non-credit Professional & Community Programs department, consists of five required courses and three electives. The required courses include Essentials of Fundraising Management, Board Development and Management, Special Events, the Annual Campaign and Major Gifts, and Building Corporate Partnerships. Students may pick three of 10 electives to complete their certificate.
Of course, students may enroll in each class separately for a fee of $125 each. If they sign up for the complete certificate program, with payment, the cost is $798, a savings of $202.
“Especially in this economy, nonprofits are scrambling for every dollar and fundraisers are critical to their success,” said Lynn Lederer, director of professional and community programs. “This program will teach you skills to enter the field, or, if you are already a development professional, upgrade your skills.”
