Cancer Patient Supported by 50+ Friends And Family Members

MIDDLESEX – Andrejs (Andy) Millers a.k.a. “Beef,” of Middlesex was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at the age of 27. With the help from his friends and family, however, there will be a huge team supporting Millers and his battle with cancer at the 2010 Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Light the Night Walk in October.

Millers’ number one fan, Danielle Hagerman, has put a team together to participate in this national event. They will walk this October in Red Bank to support him, as well as the society.  “We are very thankful and appreciative for what Danielle has been doing,” the Millers family said.

Team “GoT BeeF?” registered for the 2010 walk in the beginning of March, and surpassed expectations when they raised more than $8,500 in the first three weeks. The society has high hopes for this team and is looking forward to the final result.

“It’s an amazing feeling to have such a huge support system,” said Millers, the eternal optimist. “The walk will be like a finish line after a long, hard journey, and will give me strength to get past these next few months. It’s an opportunity to celebrate with all of my family and friends.”

His parents and sister have also been overwhelmed with emotion to see everyone standing behind Millers, and are grateful to all those who are making the team a huge success.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society holds the walks each fall across the United States and Canada. The participants at the walk carry illuminated balloons – white for survivors, red for supporters and gold for loved ones lost- to honor the lives touched by blood cancer. In New Jersey, walks will take place on Oct. 2 and Oct. 9  in Red Bank, Princeton, Verona, Camden and Morristown.
