Kennedy Won’t Seek Re-Election

RAHWAY – The city will have a new mayor next year; James Kennedy has decided not to seek re-election. Kennedy will have served 20 years in office when his term ends.

Union County Freeholder Rick Proctor has the city Democratic organization’s nod to run for the mayor’s office.

Rahway GOP Chair Patrick Cassio filed to run as the Republican Party nominee today.

Patrick Cassio filed a petition to run for mayor in Rahway today.

“Rahway needs new blood in City Hall and I believe that my values and sensible ideas will turn this city back in the right direction,” Cassio said.

James F. Grady, 33, Kevin Retcho, 44, and Jeff Spatola, 43, will pursue three at-large seats on the City Council as part of Cassio’s ticket.
