NEWARK – The Newark Bears professional baseball team will be holding open tryouts for a possible spot on the 2010 roster. The tryouts will be held Saturday, April 10 at 10 a.m. at Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium in Newark, with a rain date set for April 11. There will be a fee of $75 for all participants.
To participate in the tryouts, players must a high school graduate at least 18 years of age. Players also should be eligible to play now and not have any conflicts with college eligibility or full-time jobs.
The tryouts will include all basic practice drills, such as hitting, pitching, and fielding. Participants will be required to bring all of their own equipment (gloves, bats, and spikes, etc). Manager Tim Raines, coach Ron Karkovice and general manager R.C. Reuteman will all be on hand to evaluate players’ performance.
