KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kean University junior forward Jonathan Jones (Linden) has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Atlantic Region first-team, as selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC.
Already named a New Jersey Athletic Conference first-team all-star this season, Jones is the 11th player in program history to be named to the NABC all-district team and first player since Tan Kesler in 2004 to earn first-team honors.
A two-time NJAC all-star, Jones led the team in scoring (14.4 ppg), rebounding (12.5 ppg), steals (44) and blocks (27). Jones, who finished with 18 double-doubles this season, ranked tied for fifth in the NCAA rankings in rebounding.
Averaging 27.2 minutes per game primarily off the bench, Jones posted his highest numbers over the second half of the season, as he had 11 double-doubles in the final 12 games, including two games with at least 20 points and 20 rebounds. Over the final 12 games, Jones averaged 17.8 points and 14.6 rebounds.
The Cougars advanced to the NJAC playoffs for the third straight season, falling to NCAA tournament team Rutgers-Newark in the opening round.
