EDISON—Due to the recent severe storms and unusually warm weather, the Middlesex County Department of Parks and Recreation has been forced to end the ice skating season at the popular Roosevelt Park Family Ice Rink in Edison. The original closing date was March 28.
However, the public can look forward to the rink re-opening for roller skating season on April 16 at 5 p.m.
“We are disappointed that we have to end the ice skating season a little early, but are excited to be able to offer the roller rink surface earlier than normal,” said Freeholder Stephen J. “Pete” Dalina, chair of the County’s Park and Recreation Committee. “Families have told us how much they enjoy having this first-class, affordable recreational opportunity available to them and we are happy we are meeting their needs.”
The Parks Department converts the ice rink by placing synthetic flooring over the concrete slab. Roller skaters have the option of renting four-wheeled skates, or bringing their own in-line skates.
Rink rentals, birthday party packages and roller skating lessons are available.
Hours of operation are 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays.
For more information, call the Parks Department at 1-732-745-4484 or the Skating Rink office at 1-732-494-2980.
