Cancer Society Fundraiser Seeks Sponsors

CLARK – The American Cancer Society urges local companies to help support the fight against cancer in the community by becoming a sponsor of Relay For Life of Clark.

Cancer touches everyone, and involvement in Relay For Life is a great way for companies to demonstrate their commitment to help the American Cancer Society save lives and create a world with less cancer and more birthdays, organizers say.

Many options for corporate sponsorship are available including forming a team; providing in-kind donations of goods; encouraging employees to volunteer at the event; and collecting donations for the American Cancer Society at their place of business. Other levels of sponsorship include purchasing event sponsor signs to be displayed on the track for the duration of the event, or a print ad to be included in the Relay For Life of Clark Program Recognition Book.

In Union County and nearly 5,100 other communities around the globe, Relay For Life unites people to celebrate the lives of those who have faced cancer, remember loved ones lost and fight back against the disease. Relay for Life, the world’s largest grassroots fundraising movement, continues to grow as approximately 53,460 people will participate in 113 community and college Relay events across New Jersey.

Donations collected at Relay For Life support medical research in its quest to find better treatments for cancer, and ultimately, a cure for the disease. In addition Relay events help the American Cancer Society serve more than one million cancer patients annually through patient service programs and awareness efforts.

Relay For Life of Clark will be held overnight on Friday, June 11, starting at 6 p.m. and ending the following morning at 6 a.m.  Individuals and teams will camp out at the Arthur L. Johnson High School athletic track, with the goal of keeping at least one team member on the track at all times throughout the evening. Teams do most of their fundraising prior to the event, but some teams also hold creative fundraisers at their camp sites during the event.

Relay For Life brings together friends, families, businesses, hospitals, schools, faith-based groups . . . people from all walks of life – all aimed at furthering the American Cancer Society’s efforts to save lives by helping people stay well, by helping them get well, by finding cures and by fighting back.
