WOODBRIDGE – Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian hit and run motor vehicle accident that occurred on Saturday, March 13, on Route 1 South in Avenel.  Authorities are asking witnesses to contact Sgt. Eric Nelson of the Woodbridge Police Department Traffic Enforcement Unit at 1-732-634-7700.

According to Woodbridge Police Chief William Trenery, Angela Russell, 42, of Carteret, was fatally struck by a motor vehicle at approximately 7:26 p.m.  The preliminary investigation determined that Russell and her husband had stopped at the Quick Chek convenience store located on the northbound side of Route 1 at the intersection of Avenel Street.
