Rahway Students Raise Money With “Hearts For Haiti”

RAHWAY—The Rahway Public Schools recently held a fundraiser to benefit victims of the earthquake disaster in Haiti.

Hearts for Haiti was conceived and organized by Rahway High School English teacher Elizabeth Graner Jotz and conducted by each of the schools in the district.  Each of the schools collaborated in order to sell paper hearts for $1 each or three for $2.  These hearts were displayed in the hallways of the individual schools.

In just four weeks, the Rahway Public Schools raised over $4,000 to be donated to the American Red Cross International Disaster Relief Fund.

Pictured, several students of Haitian descent join Rahway High School Principal Paula Braxton outside the main office, where several hundred hearts were on display during the month of February.
