CLARK – Following up on the township’s high ranking in New Jersey Monthly’s 2010 Top Towns list, Clark was recently named one of the best affordable suburbs in America by Bloomberg BusinessWeek.
The magazine examined data provided by Onboard Informatics and looked at towns within 25 miles of the most populated city in the state, with populations between 5,000 and 60,000, median family incomes of $51,000 to $120,000, and lower-than-average crime rates.
A variety of factors including livability, crime rate, economy and affordability were factored into the calculations, and towns were penalized for bad weather, a lack of racial diversity, high divorce rates, and few children.
According to the report, Clark has a median family income of $97,668 and a median home price of $380,500. The unemployment rate was 9.7%. The violent crime index is four incidents per 100,000 people.
