Police Seek Witnesses To Fatal Rahway Accident

RAHWAY — Police are looking for witnesses to a fatal accident that took place this morning on Old Lake Avenue near the intersection of West Hazelwood Avenue.

A few minutes after 9 a.m., a 2003 Mercury driven by Judith M. Kjetsaa, 71, of Rahway drifted up the curb on Old Lake Avenue and struck a tree, according to Sgt. Frank D’Errico of the Rahway Police Traffic Bureau. Police believe the accident was caused because Kjetsaa suffered a medical emergency.


Kjetsaa was treated by the Rahway First Aid Squad and medics and was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway, but she died from her injuries, police said.

Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the accident to call Officer William Sherrier at the Rahway Police Traffic Bureau at 1-732-827-2073.
