United Way Plans Cocktail Fundraiser

PLAINFIELD—United Way of Greater Union County’s African American Leadership Committee will host their signature event: “Making a Mark” on Friday, March 12, at The Burney Manor 1127 Watchung Avenue, Plainfield.

The event will celebrate the achievements, leadership and contributions of African-Americans in the community. Advance tickets are $50 and can be purchased online at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/95854.

Attendees will enjoy an evening of cocktails and networking.  On sale will be art by featured artist and Plainfield native, Indira Bailey. Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in a fun filled silent auction.

The African American Leadership Initiative’s (AALI) mission is to mobilize the caring power of the African American community to improve African American lives in Union County. The purpose of the event is to enhance awareness of AALI and gather community-minded individuals with the hopes of inspiring them to join the effort towards addressing community needs by becoming members.

Proceeds from “Making a Mark” will be used towards programs and initiatives that advance the well being of African-Americans in Union County.
