Linden To Present Boating Safety Course

LINDEN—The Linden Department of Recreation and Community Services is sponsoring a one day boat safety certification course, approved by the U.S. Coast Guard, on Saturday, May 1, at the John T. Gregorio Recreation Center, 330 Helen Street, beginning at 8 a.m.

The course takes eight hours to complete.  This includes break and exam time, so participants should bring lunch. The registration fee is $75, due by April 9. Sign up at one of Linden’s recreation centers or online at by clicking onto CommunityPass.


Each student will receive a study book, and will be required to take an examination at the end of the course.  Upon attaining a passing grade, a Boating Safety Certificate for the State of New Jersey and the NASBLA will be issued.

The course instructor has been teaching boat safety courses for the past 17 years and has a Master United States Coast Guard Merchant Marine License for near coastal waters.  He and the course have been approved by the N.J. State Police and the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators.
