Candidates File For School Board Races

UNION COUNTY – Monday was the deadline for school board candidates to file nominating petitions to run in the April 20 school elections. These are the candidates from Union County.

Berkeley Heights (three 3-year terms): Incumbents Helen Kirsch, John Sincaglia and Denis Smalley are seeking re-election.

Clark (three 3-year terms): Incumbents Lorraine Aklonis, Thomas Lewis and Sherri Sandler are seeking re-election

Cranford (three 3-year terms): Incumbents Jerald D. Baranoff and Mary Catherine Sudiak are seeking re-election. Lisa Patella is also running.

Elizabeth (three 3-year terms): Incumbents Eddie Branquinho, Marie Munn and Carlos Trujillo are seeking re-election. John Donoso is also running.

Garwood (three 3-year terms): Incumbents Susan Groning and John Sullivan are seeking re-election. Thomas Evelina and Brendan McDermott are also running.

Hillside (three 3-year terms): Incumbent George Cook III is seeking re-election. Orlando Cortez and Nancy Mondella are also running

Kenilworth (three 3-year terms, one 2-year term): Incumbents Genean Braun, Anthony Laudati and Livio Mancino are seeking re-election to full terms. Toni M. Chessa is also running for a full term. Joseph Lospinoso is unopposed in his bid for one 2-year term.

Linden (three 3-year terms, one 2-year term): Incumbents Dan Beviano, Susan L. Hudak and Lisa Ormon are seeking re-election to full terms. Judith L. Dudash, Dylan Frank, Sandra Hardy, Michael C. Puzio, and Charlette Richardson are also running for full terms.

Incumbent Manuel K. Donelson is seeking the 2-year term.

New Providence (two 3-year terms): Incumbent Robert W. Betz is seeking re-election. David Hasenkopf, Alan Lesnewich, Gail Libertucci and Susan Vogel are also running.

Plainfield (three 3-year terms, one 1-year term): Incumbents Wilma G. Campbell, Martin P. Cox and Christian Estevez are seeking re-election to full terms. Rasheed Abdul-Haaq, Mary E. Burgwinkle, Jaclynne Callands, Catherine Crittendon, Danielle Fletcher, Mahogany Hendricks and Renata A. Hernandez are also running for full terms.

Keisha Edwards, Carmencita Pile, Denise Riley and Clayton L. Tucker, Sr. are running for the 1-year term.

Rahway (three 3-year terms): Incumbents Roy Eastman, Richard Trocciola and Justin Tupik are seeking re-election. Bryan DesRochers is also running.

Roselle (three 3-year terms): Incumbents Denise Edwards and Carla Walker are seeking re-election. Reginald Atkins, Margaret Irwin, Jessica Perez, Celeste Sitarski and Deauward Thomas are also running.

Roselle Park (three 3-year terms): Incumbent Jeff Parrell is seeking re-election. Loren Harms is also running.

Scotch Plains / Fanwood: Incumbents Nancy Bauer and David Gorbunoff are seeking re-election to two 3-year Scotch Plains terms. Incumbent Amy Winkler is seeking re-election to the 3-year Fanwood term. Michael Lewis and Christopher Pflaum are running against her. Incumbent Rob O’Conner is seeking the 1-year Fanwood term.

Springfield (three 3-year terms, one 1-year term): Incumbents Irwin Sablosky and Patricia Venezia are seeking re-election to full terms. Scott Silverstein is also running for a full term. Incumbent Steven Wolcott is seeking the 1-year term.

Westfield (three 3-year terms): Incumbents Virginia Leiz, Richard Solomon and Julia Walker are seeking re-election. Mitchell Slater is also running.

Winfield (three 3-year terms, one 1-year term): Incumbents Adam Koomer and Frederick Viteka are seeking re-election to full terms. Incumbent Caroline Gerhart is running for the 1-year term.
