Edison Man Accused Of Abandoning Daughter Pleads Not Guilty To Killing Her Mother

NEW BRUNSWICK — An Edison man accused of abandoning his 20-month-old daughter at a Delaware gas station has pleaded not guilty to killing the girl’s mother.

Dwayne Jackson, 25, appeared Monday afternoon in state Superior Court in New Brunswick.

He is charged with killing Patricia Belizaire, 25, of North Brunswick. Her burning body was found in a park in Ramapo, N.Y on Feb. 22. Authorities believe that Belizaire was killed by asphyxiation.

Jackson also faces a child endangerment charge in New Jersey and a reckless endangerment charge in Delaware.

The couple’s daughter was found unharmed in the restroom of a gas station in Newark, Del., on Feb. 21. The girl is in the care of Delaware’s Division of Family Services.

Jackson is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center, with bail set at $2.75 million, authorities said.
