NEW BRUNSWICK—On Saturday, Feb. 27, Rutgers Students and the Community-at-Large will gather to dance at “Murder Mystery Ballroom.” Music for dancing will be provided by Brian Nash.

The dance social takes place from 8 to 11:30 p.m. in the College Avenue Gym, 130 College Avenue, New Brunswick. Dancers of all ages may attend with or without a partner.

The main gym features a 4,570 square foot wooden dance floor. The dance is sponsored by the Rutgers University Recreation Instructional Program and the Rutgers Ballroom Dance Club and Team. You are encouraged, but not required, to dress as your favorite murder mystery character.

Prior to the dance social, Brian Nash, the team’s founding coach, will teach a two-hour intermediate-level workshop covering American Style waltz and swing in the Main Gym from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. At the same time, in the Upper Gym, Carmen Valverde, founder of the dance program at Rutgers Recreation, will teach a basic American Style tango and samba workshop for beginning dancers. Prior experience is neither expected nor required for the basic workshop.

Admission for the dance social is $5 for students with college ID and $15 for non-students, payable at the door. Admission for either workshop is $8 for students with ID and $15 for non-students, also payable at the door. Non-students, who pay for both the workshop and social, will receive a $5 discount off the social admission fee.
