EDISON –A long-standing tradition in the fourth grade at The Wardlaw-Hartridge School in Edison, students look forward to honing their study of the great State of New Jersey by assembling cakes shaped like the garden state.
First, the students bake sheet cakes at home, carve out each New Jersey county at school with help from their parents and teachers and then they frost and decorate the cake once the counties are organized to form the whole state.
The cake is savored on the evening of Lower School Family Night.
