Two Linden Teens Nominated For National Scholarship Program

SCOTCH PLAINS – Three seniors at Union Catholic High School in Scotch Plains have been nominated to compete in the National Honor Society scholarship program.

The nominees included two Linden teens: John Cierpial and Alex Bricki. Jamie Ciocon of Colonia was also nominated.

Cierpial is captain of the Academic Team, a Peer Coordinator for the Big Brother/Big Sister Program, a member of the Junior Knights of Lithuania and represented Union Catholic at the American Conference on Diversity’s Youth Leadership Institute. Bricki is president of the Environmental Club, member of the Academic Team and Spanish Competition Team and volunteers as a CCD Teacher for 4th Grade.

The National Honor Society is a program of the National Association of Secondary Principals. The program awards $200,000 in college scholarships. High School National Honor Society chapters from across the country nominate high school seniors based on their leadership skills, participation in service organizations and clubs, achievements in arts and sciences, employment and academic record.
