TRENTON –The Assembly will host a special bipartisan public hearing on Tuesday, Feb. 2 to hear first-hand New Jerseyans’ ideas on fixing and improving the state, Assembly Speaker Sheila Y. Oliver and Assembly Republican Leader Alex DeCroce announced today.
The Feb. 2 hearing is scheduled for 3 to 7 p.m. in Committee Room 11 at the State House Annex in Trenton. Those wishing to testify should make a reservation by calling the Legislative Budget and Finance Office at 1-609-292-8030 or by sending an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. Those sending an e-mail should be sure to include their name and a phone number.
Oliver first called for the special bipartisan hearings during her swearing-in as Assembly Speaker on Jan. 12. Oliver (D-Essex) said she wanted to find “ways for the public to experience transparency in how our government operates.”
“This gathering is what I envisioned when I introduced legislation last year that would permit the public to attend designated sessions in the Senate and General Assembly, and provide them with an opportunity to comment,” said Assembly Republican Conference Leader Jon Bramnick (R-Union). “I am now delighted to join with our colleagues across the aisle as we seek input on how to improve government.”
