RAHWAY—The Rahway Valley ‘Jerseyaires’ Barbershop Chorus will sponsor and host their 49th annual Novice Quartet Contest at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Roosevelt Elementary School, 811 St. Georges Avenue and Stanton Street in Rahway.

Admission is free to the public and organizers hope to have a large audience to cheer on these novice quartets. Up to 15 quartets will compete for the top spot in front of a panel of certified judges and a contest administrator who will tabulate a score sheet for our audience and competing quartets.

Each quartet will sing two songs and the top three placing quartets are also awarded Contest Medals for their performance.

As has been a tradition since the 38th Novice Contest, the winning quartet will also be awarded the Ben Ackermann Memorial Trophy, which is then passed along to each year’s subsequent winners.

No tickets are necessary; organizers invite area residents to show up and have a great time.
