Substitute Teacher Charged With Having Sex With Student
ROSELLE PARK—A 20-year-old substitute teacher at Roselle Park High School was arrested last night after authorities learned that he allegedly had sexual relations with a student, Union County Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow said.
Nick Genovese was charged with second degree aggravated sexual assault and faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted, authorities said. Genovese worked briefly for the school in late 2009 and met the victim while teaching, according to Romankow.
At a later date the two met off of school property and allegedly engaged in sexual acts, said Romankow. The alleged assault came to light after the girl’s parents were notified and they contacted police.
Genovese was released last night on $50,000 bail and will have a court appearance in the coming days, authorities said.
