PERTH AMBOY – St. Peter’s Episcopal Church will host a concert featuring Sam Hensley and The Sloan River Project on Saturday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m.
The event is part of the church’s 325th anniversary celebration.

Hailing from Virginia, Tennessee, Massachusetts, and Scotland, The Sloan River Project formed after the members met up at an Episcopal youth conference in North Carolina. They bring influences and sounds from across the musical spectrum, and mash it together to create a folk-rock sound that gets people listening.

Performing originals by front men Sam Hensley and Josh Edwards, covering classics by The Byrds, Bill Withers, and The Doobie Brothers, and spinning contemporary songs by Rhianna, Peter Mayer, and Daisy Mae, the Project keeps the acoustic grounding of folk, but adds the crunch and rhythm of rock and pop.

With Steven Hopkins on lead guitar, Drew Courtright on drums, and Ben Hackett on bass, the Project gets the crowd moving and shaking with their boundless energy, and stirs the soul with their soaring three-part harmony.
St. Peter’s Church is located at 183 Rector Street in Perth Amboy. For more information, call the Parish Office at 1-732-826-1594.
