Man Who Robbed Senator Gets 4 Years

January 12, 2010

ELIZABETH – Antoine Neal, who admitted robbing and threatening a New Jersey state senator in his home last year, was sentenced to four years in prison last week.

Neal and Brian Kinney, both residents of Elizabeth, pleaded guilty in July to charges of burglary, theft and making terroristic threats against state Sen. Raymond Lesniak (D-Elizabeth). The lawmaker recommended that both men receive drug treatment instead of jail time, but Neal was not accepted into the program due to his prior criminal record.

In April, Lesniak woke to find the two men standing at the foot of his bed. They took cash, his BlackBerry and the keys to his Lexus, the lawmaker told police.
