Carteret Native Plans To Enter NFL Draft

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Carteret native Jason Worilds, a defensive end at Virginia Tech, announced plans to forgo his final season of college eligibility and make himself available for the NFL draft.

Worilds, 6-foot-2, 262-pounds, finished his junior season with 49 tackles, including 11 for loss and 4½ sacks. As a sophomore, he had 62 tackles, including 18½ for loss and eight sacks. In both seasons, he was a second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection.

“I based my decision solely on my assessment of myself and how I feel about where I’m at athletically and in my career as a whole,” Worilds said last week.

“I’ve actually been going back and forth as far as making my decision, consulting with my family for the past week or so. We came to this decision recently.”
