Gov.-elect Chris Christie has made some very good decisions as the incoming chief executive of New Jersey. The outgoing governor has seen fit to promote, appoint and generally impair the plans, which Gov.-elect Christie set forth in his campaign.
The choice of Attorney General Designate Paula Dow was one that opened many eyes. It proved that Chris meant what he said about choosing the best person for the job without regard for political party. I’m certain that there are others who could have been selected but AG designate Dow has worked with Mr. Christie in the US Attorney’s office and is a person who has met his criteria.
The decision to appoint Lt. Gov.-elect Kim Guadagno as secretary of state is the most imaginative decision I have ever seen in politics. Choosing to put lieutenant governor in as secretary of state has unified the offices. The relationship between the governor and the secretary of state is very important.
Another important part of that decision may have gone unnoticed by many—the lieutenant governor’s salary will also cover the large salary of the secretary of state and will eliminate the need for many new employees in Trenton. Office space, which is at a premium, will be reduced. Gov.-elect Christie has started with a bang.
Thank you Gov.-elect Christie for all you have done thus far. Amazing what can be accomplished if your goal is to do what is best for the citizen/tax payers.
