LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Actress Brittany Murphy, who grew up in Edison, unexpectedly died this weekend at the age of 32.
Murphy was born Nov. 10, 1977, in Atlanta, Ga., but she grew up in Edison and later moved with her mother to Los Angeles to pursue acting. She appeared in a number of television shows and films, but is best known for parts in “Girl, Interrupted,” ”Clueless” and “8 Mile.”
Murphy died about 10 a.m. on Sunday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, according to the hospital. She apparently collapsed in the bathroom of her home, authorities said.
While it will take time to determine an official cause of death, authorities believe the actress died of natural causes.
