EDISON – The township Board of Education has selected former board member Ralph Errico to fill a vacant seat on the panel.

The board voted 5-2-1 in favor of Errico at the Dec. 16 meeting. The South Plainfield High School assistant principal will replace Carmelo Vaticano, who resigned last month.

Fifteen candidates submitted their names for consideration for the term, which lasts until the school board election in April.

Errico, who served on the board from 1997-99 and ran an unsuccessful school board campaign this April, plans to seek a full three-year term next year.
