RAHWAY—On Dec. 16, the Rahway Middle School Music Program presented its annual Winter Concert. The concert showcased the middle school’s Jazz Band as well as the Chamber Singers and RMS Chorale.
The Jazz Band, under the direction of Amara VanWyk, played a medley of holiday music. The selection, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” by Martin and Blane, featured Phillip Schroeder on the trumpet and Christian Lazo on the tenor saxophone. This was followed by a musical interlude where Emily Gottlick and Pamela Reeseg sang “My Heart Will Go On” by James Horner.
Next, under the direction of Yu Wei Tze, the chorale members took the stage. The Chamber Singers, a select group of 20 students, performed two numbers. The night ended with the RMS Chorale. This group of over seventy students in grades sixth through eighth sang three songs including “Silver Bells” by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans.
