ELIZABETH – Elizabeth resident Thomas Sagendorf was one of four students recently awarded the 2009 Navin Bros. Food Service Scholarship at Union Catholic High School in Scotch Plains.
The scholarship was established in memory of Mary Ellen Swinden, a Navin Bros. employee who worked at Union Catholic and passed away in the fall of 2008. The scholarship recipients were selected based on their academic standing as well as their involvement in extra-curricular activities.
Sagendorf, currently a freshman student, is a member of the Emerging Leaders Program and serves as a guide for the Freshman-for-a-Day program.
