CLARK – Senior Lisa Hagen was named as the Student of the Month for November at Arthur L. Johnson High School in Clark.
Hagen, a contributor to the Clark Patriot, is the managing editor of the school’s newspaper, The Crusader. She has also contributed articles to the school yearbook, The Lance, and the school’s literary magazine, The Quest. This summer, Hagen took courses in journalism and persuasive writing at the Boston University Summer Challenge Program.
Hagen is the co-vice-president of the National Honor Society, an AP Scholar and a member of the National Society of High School Scholars. She was a Girls State Nominee and the recipient of the Penn Book Club Award.
Hagen is the lieutenant governor of Division 13 of the New Jersey of Key Club International. A four-year member of Key Club, she served as a Key Club board member, the editor of the newsletter, and as a contributor to Jersey Key, New Jersey Key Club’s district newspaper.
Hagen is also a CCD teacher assistant and tutors for the National Honor Society. She is a four-year member of SPEL/REBEL and has served in various leadership positions. While at ALJ, she has also been a Peer Leader and a member of the Math Team, History Club, and DECA. Lisa is also a Peer Leader.
Outside of school, Hagen has studied karate for 14 years and holds a third degree black belt. She studied dance for 11 years and has taken piano lessons for ten years. After graduation, she would like to study journalism and psychology. She is interested in attending Boston University and has already been accepted to Drexel University.
Lisa is the daughter of Holly and Fred Hagen.
