RAHWAY—As part of Madison School’s Social Studies curriculum, the second graders are learning about community life. In order for the children to develop a better understanding of their community, they were assigned a project to build a model of one of the buildings found in Rahway.
Parental involvement was encouraged. Parents were asked to tour Rahway with their child to point out the different landmarks. Each child selected a building and created a model using whatever materials were available to them. They each wrote a brief description describing their building.
Their projects were presented to the class during American Education Week. Pictured are Mark Ericksen with his model of Grover Cleveland School and Danielle Hansen holding her model of the Merchants and Drovers Tavern Museum.
