Monday, November 30, 2009

RAHWAY – This holiday season, Kataluma Chai, a gourmet tea café located at 1470 Main Street in Rahway, will be collecting non-perishable foods for Food for Friends, a Rahway based non-profit that provides hot meals, bagged food, and essential human services for the community.

The collected food will be used for the Food for Friends Annual Holiday Dinner and food giveaway.  The desired items for the drive include corn bread; stuffing; canned vegetables and fruit; boxed pasta, potatoes, or rice; canned chili, stew, or soup; and hot or cold cereal.  Patrons who donate at least five items from the list will receive a free sample cup of chai.  The last day to drop off items is Dec. 18.

Introducing CHEFS Wine Club!

“This past year of 2009 was a true challenge for us.  The Community Foodbank in Hillside, our primary source for food, saw a drop in corporate food donations, however we experienced a 20% increase in demand for our monthly pantry bags,” said Rosann Tremarco, Food for Friends Board of Trustees president.  “We thank Kataluma Chai for acting as a collection facility and providing an incentive for people to give.  We are very proud of our ‘little angels’, whose actions are a true example of stewardship to God and the community.”

Kataluma Chai is open Monday – Wednesday 7 a.m. –7 p.m., Thursday and Friday 7 a.m. – 10 p.m., and Saturdays 9 a.m. – 10 p.m.  For more information, contact Kataluma Chai at 1-732-499-8500.
