UNION COUNTY—While the weather has been unstable, the cold and snow of winter are just around the corner. While The Salvation Army is hard at work meeting the needs of the people all year long, the organization’s greatest visibility is during the Thanksgiving/Christmas season.
“Generally, when people think The Salvation Army they are drawn to our seasonal work. Hearts are tender and generous during the holidays, and it is this generosity during the holidays that helps to sustain the year-round ministry of The Salvation Army,” said Captain Sebastian Leonardi.
“With the challenges of our weakening economy, more people are turning to The Salvation Army for assistance. At the same time, with money being tight, there are real financial concerns for even our faithful contributors.”
The Salvation Army of Elizabeth is soliciting individuals and groups to participate in the 2009 “Battle of the Bells” Campaign.
