November 23, 2009

PERTH AMBOY – Changing demographics and a diminishing congregation forced the 80-year-old John Calvin Magyar Reformed Church to merge with the Hungarian Reformed Church in Woodbridge earlier this year. Now the Perth Amboy church building in on the real estate market, with a $750,000 asking price.

Rev. Stefan Torok had been the pastor at both churches before they combined. The John Calvin Magyar Reformed Church averages only about 25 people at Sunday services, which are conducted in English and Hungarian.
