Students Show Vocal Distinction

EDISON—Jane Brown, instrumental music teacher and Co-Chairperson of the Arts Department at The Wardlaw-Hartridge School in Edison, reported that Billy Buchbinder of Scotch Plains, Milika Griffths of Edison and Aneesa Sonawalla of Edison have been named to the New Jersey Music Educators Association (NJMEA) All-State Chorus.

Over 1,100 students from New Jersey auditioned and approximately 350 were accepted to the ensemble. They performed on Nov. 6 at the All-State Mixed Chorus/Orchestra Concert in Atlantic City.

On Sunday, Nov. 15, they raised their voices with the ensemble again during a spectacular concert in Prudential Hall at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark.

From Wednesday, Feb. 10 to Saturday, Feb. 13, they will attend the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) 2010 Eastern Division Conference in Philadelphia, where they will attend concerts, perform, and learn from world-renowned guests and conductors in venues such as the National Constitution Center, The Kimmel Center’s Verizon Hall, and the Church of the Holy Trinity at Rittenhouse Square.
