Health Department Schedules 2nd H1N1 Flu Shot Clinic

CLARK—The Clark Health Department will hold its second and final H1N1 (swine flu) vaccine clinic for 2009 on Wednesday, Dec. 9, in the drama studio at Mother Seton High School, Valley Road.

Pre-registration is required and will begin on Sunday, Nov. 22 at 9 a.m. at the Clark Municipal Building, 430 Westfield Avenue. Once all slots are filled, the registration process will be closed. Pre-registration will not be accepted by phone or email; it must be done in person.

The following priority groups are eligible to receive the vaccine:

1. Pregnant women
2. Household contacts and caregivers of children less than 6 months of age.
3. Health care and emergency medical personnel
4. Persons age 6 months to 24 years of age
5. Persons 25-64 years of age with underlying medical conditions.

As per state guidelines, there is no residency requirement to receive the vaccination.

The vaccine is injected and contains the mercury-based preservative thimerisol.
