RAHWAY—Who would have thought that cleaning out closets could be so lucrative? Roosevelt School in Rahway encouraged their teachers and students to collect old clothes, shoes, toys, linens, and anything else that wasn’t needed from their homes. The response was incredible!
The school collected 357 bags and over 5,000 pounds of clothing on Saturday, Oct. 3. The clothing was picked up by A and E Clothing Company and they paid the school 13 cents per pound. The school received a $100 bonus for collecting over 5,000 pounds, too.
The clothing was sent to West Africa to help those in need. The money will be used to fund the Positive Behavior Support in Schools Initiative, which directly benefits the students. These funds will be used to buy incentives for the children and run programs to support the positive behavior initiative.
