Three To Compete For Vacated Council Seat

EDISON – Township Democrats will choose between two former councilman and a political newcomer to fill the seat vacated by former Council President President AnneMarie Griffin-Ussak, who resigned last month.

Approximately 120 of Edison’s 156 Democratic committee members voted Sunday to choose the replacement candidates. Former Councilman Robert Karabinchak was first with 98 votes; former Councilman Salvatore Pizzi and attorney Bhavini Shah each received 73 votes.

The Township Council must now pick one of the three candidates within the next 30 days.
