I am a Democrat who voted for Jon Corzine four years ago, but will be voting for Chris Christie for Governor this Tuesday.
Both Chris, and his Lieutenant Governor running mate, Kim Guadagno, are effective bi-partisan decision-makers who have proven track records as well as a comprehensive economic plan for New Jersey’s future.
While Mr. Corzine was eyeing a job in Washington at the beginning of the year, Chris was focused on becoming Governor to get our state back on the right track. Indeed, it was only because Mr. Corzine did not land a job in the Obama Administration that he decided to run for re-election; thus, Mr. Corzine considered serving New Jersey to be a mere back-up plan. On the contrary, Chris has stated from day one that making the necessary, tough choices for New Jersey was his top priority – even if it cost him popularity points in a re-election bid.
Democrats should be especially careful not to consider this election a referendum on the President or the Party. It is only a referendum on our incumbent Governor who has held statewide office for nine years with very little results to show for it. Moreover, it is because our state literally cannot afford to risk another four years of Corzine’s lackluster economic vision that Democrats and third-party supporters should give Chris Christie a second look.
Chris Christie and Kim Guadagno have a specific plan to bring back New Jersey and they also have this Democrat’s vote on Tuesday.
