Edison Receives $300K In Roadwork Grant

October 29, 2009

EDISON—Through a statewide competitive process, Edison Township was selected to receive more than $301,132 in a grant from the New Jersey Department of Transportation’s Municipal Aid Program.

The funds will go toward a reconstruction project of Feather Bed Lane. Starting at the township’s border with Clark, the roadway will be correctly aligned so motorists will have a safe and smooth street to utilize.

The reconstruction project will also eliminate short abrupt turns and sight obstructions. A stretch of pavement will be elevated to add to the driver and pedestrian safety improvements. The reconstruction also includes the repair of public sidewalks and, in some areas, the construction of sidewalks and curb ramps.

“We’re thankful to the state. This project will go a long way in making this road safer for residents and the thousands of people who travel it every day,” said Mayor Jun Choi.
