New Brunswick Man Dies In Apparent Shooting

NEW BRUNSWICK—A 30-year-old man died after apparently being shot in New Brunswick early Friday morning.

After receiving a 911 call at 5:07 a.m., police found Anthony Filardi of New Brunswick on the sidewalk on Lee Avenue, midway between Seaman and Handy streets, Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and New Brunswick Police Director Anthony A. Caputo said Friday.


He was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he was pronounced dead at 6:34 a.m.

An autopsy was being performed Friday by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office, but the results were not immediately available.

New Brunswick police and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office are actively investigating. Authorities ask that anyone with information call Detective Ronoldy Martinez of the New Brunswick Police Department at 1-732-745-5200, or Investigator Eleazar Ricardo at 1-732-745-4239.
